The Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry continues its series of meetings with political leaders to discuss and advance issues relating to the enclosed city of Famagusta.
On Tuesday, 30 September 2025, delegations of the Chamber, led by myself, met with the Secretary-General of AKEL, Mr Stefanos Stefanu, and subsequently with the President of ELAM, Mr Christos Christou, at the respective party headquarters in Nicosia. Members of parliament and other party representatives also participated.

During these discussions, our delegation emphasised that the return of the enclosed city of Famagusta to its lawful residents under UN administration constitutes a key confidence-building measure. We also highlighted the serious implications of Turkey’s announcement to construct 1,192 housing units in occupied Deryneia and stressed the urgent need to establish a National Fund for Loss of Use of Occupied Properties.
The Famagusta Chamber will continue these meetings with political leaders until our positions and concrete proposals for the future of Famagusta—and Cyprus—are communicated to all political parties.
