The lecture organized last night (28/3) by the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), which dealt with the topical issue of artificial intelligence, was of great interest.
This was the 1st lecture of the 2nd cycle of the series of open lectures organized by CUTC and Famagusta Chamber of Commerce in the region, under the Cooperation Protocol maintained between the two organizations, aiming to inform the residents and entrepreneurs of the region about scientific and technological developments in a wide range of topics, with the scientific contribution of the academic staff of the University.
Last night’s lecture entitled “Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Hatzis holds a degree in Computer Engineering and a PhD in Productive Models of Machine Learning Statistics, and is included in the top 2% of experts in Artificial Intelligence according to the well-known Stanford University ranking. In his speech, the Associate Professor of CTE presented the potential and challenges presented by this revolutionary technology and its impact on various areas of human activity.
In his address at the event, the President of the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Charalambos Manoli, announced: “following the success of the Open University Lectures series held by the CUT and our Chamber from October to December 2023, the lectures in the District will continue this year”. He thanked the CTEP “for the excellent cooperation so far” and expressed the Chamber’s satisfaction with the outcome of the lectures held so far. “We look forward to further strengthening the cooperation between the two organizations,” he added. Referring to the topic of the lecture, the President of the Chamber said that “this is a very topical issue that is currently of concern to a wide range of businesses and other organisations as well as our society”.
In her own greeting, on behalf of the Rector of the TEPAK, Officer Constantia Kousoulou welcomed the participants and attendees to the lecture and conveyed the thanks of Professor Panagiotis Zafiris to the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce for this fruitful and productive cooperation for the benefit of the residents of the region. The aim of these lectures, he said, is to make the CUT even more open and accessible to the society, providing citizens with information on the latest scientific achievements and technological developments in various fields.
At the end of the lecture, questions and comments from the participants of the lecture were followed by questions and comments from the participants, who will be given certificates of attendance.
During the lecture, the attendees had the opportunity to be informed by the Officer of the Communication, Promotion and Internationalization Service of the University, Dr. Konstantinos Dimitroulas, about the studies at CUT as well as about the new and existing programmes of study of the University at undergraduate and postgraduate level
